What type of senior residence is Tappan Zee Manor?
Tappan Zee Manor is licensed by the New York State Department of Health. We provide gracious living for seniors with all the accommodations of a hotel. Our community has a homelike feel and emphasizes active and healthy lifestyles for our residents.
What type of accommodations are offered?
Accommodations range from studio to one bedroom apartments which vary in size. All of our spacious apartments have private baths and a state of the art kitchenette. Our apartments are completely furnished however feel free to bring whatever items you would like to, to maintain the comfort of home. You can enjoy decorating your new apartment to reflect your unique personality.
What kind of care does Tappan Zee Manor offer?
Services and care are provided in a way that promotes your maximum independence and dignity. Personal care services such as assistance with bathing, dressing and medication reminders are available. Assistance is given according to your individual needs. We will provide any assistance required to improve and maintain your quality of life. Our excellent, highly trained staff is available 24 hours a day to meet both your scheduled and unscheduled needs.
How are the levels of care determined?
Our wellness staff and case management department will determine your level of care based upon input from you, your physician and your family. After we gather your personal health information, we will establish a personalized care plan for you.
What types of activities are available to residents?
We encourage our residents to participate in our many activities provided by our activity department. Our activities include, but are not limited to: Games such as Bingo and Poker, daily exercise (including TaiChi, Zumba and Yoga), weekly live entertainment, arts and crafts and a variety of mind stimulation games and several discussion groups. In addition to all of our indoor activities, we provide weekly transportation to community events, lunch outings, shopping, etc.
What is included in the monthly fee?
Three restaurant style served meals
Assistance with personal care
Laundry and housekeeping services
Assistance with access to health care facilities
Administration of medication
Does Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance pay for any of the costs?
Our services are not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. Private long term care insurance may cover part, if not all, of your adult home stay. We will work with you and your family to ensure and assist you in getting all of the benefits you are entitled to including veteran benefits at no additional cost to you.
When are tours available?
Our staff is available for tours between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday. After hour and weekend tours are available by appointment. We will be more than happy to work around your schedule.
Does Tappan Zee Manor have an inhouse physician?
We have an inhouse physician that comes to Tappan Zee Manor weekly. We also have specialists that come in to treat residents on a continuous basis.
Can residents continue to use their own health care providers?
You may continue with your current primary care physician and specialists. Transportation is available for medical appointments within the county.
What are the terms of a lease?
You will need to sign a resident agreement which establishes the monthly rate and outlines the understanding between you and Tappan Zee Manor. This is a monthly agreement. We do require a 30 day notice prior to terminating your lease. If there is a specific change in your health care requiring a move to a higher level of care community, the agreement terminates as soon as the apartment is vacant.
