My mom has been a resident of Tappan Zee Manor for almost a year. We selected Tappan Zee Manor because parents of my friends had lived here and were very satisfied. From the very beginning, Wendy Bleiweiss, Director of Admissions, has been very helpful. The entire Administration and Staff are caring and supportive. Housekeeping cleans the rooms daily. The Wellness Department keeps Mom healthy with medication management and any medical needs. The Kitchen staff accommodates my mom’s dietary needs and preferences. Mom likes the variety of foods offered and describes them as “tasty”. She enjoys getting her exercise walking the long hallway outside of her room. In good weather, she likes to sit outside on the benches to enjoy the fresh air.
It is most important for me and our family to know that my mom is being so well cared for.

Dear Tappan Zee Manor,
All I can say is “Thank You!” from the bottom of my heart for being the wonderful place you are! I took care of my mom and Dad for over 20 years, then my dad passed away, and my mom fell and broke her hip and arm. It was apparent that her care was getting beyond what I could provide, and additionally, she was lonely and depressed.
I looked at every care facility in Rockland as well as a few in Orange and Westchester County. I was getting very discouraged at what I saw, and since we did not have much money, many were out of our price range. Dad was a retired Navy Veteran and once he passed mom’s finances were even less. Someone told me about Tappan Zee Manor and from the first calls I made to Wendy and Erica looking into a “Place for Mom” I felt I was working with family. It also turned out that my mom’s favorite Doctor was associated with Tappan Zee Manor so it improved the possibility before I even saw the place.
On my tour with Erica she showed me the rooms and they were just like a small apartment with a small fridge, private bathroom and walk in shower! She said we could decorate or furnish them to make them feel like home. There were many fun activities, movies, a beauty parlor, and staff so sweet and caring that I could not sign the papers fast enough. After decorating and settling my mom up, Erica was quick to introduce her to some ladies that she thought Mom would like, and she was so right. Mom, Clara and Estelle are together every day and my mom finally has friends and fun and with Bingo and all of the other activities. I also have to mention that my mom loves all the staff and the food. The nursing care is amazing as well. If there is ever a health issue for Mom, they are quick to respond, and are very patient and understanding.
I took Mom out to dinner and asked her how she liked her new place and once she started talking, I decided to record it and sent the video to Erica. I said she could do a commercial!! lol - She Loves It!
One more important note was that Erica helped me to apply for Aid and Attendance through Veterans Affairs and she got it approved, so we now have additional funds for Mom’s care.
My family and I could not be more thankful for this wonderful place and I would be happy to talk personally, with anyone that has any questions.
